Tour Itenerary

Day 01 (Kalpitiya)

Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you’ll be met by your personal chauffeur-naturalist and transferred to the sun-kissed Kalpitiya Peninsula. This coastal paradise is renowned for its marine life and unspoiled beaches. Spend the day unwinding by the ocean or exploring the quiet surroundings.

🏨 Accommodation: Alankuda Beach or Bar Reef Resort

Set out early this morning on a thrilling boat excursion into the Indian Ocean in search of Sperm Whales, the largest toothed whales on Earth. These deep-diving giants hunt in the abyss for Giant Squid, often just beyond the Kalpitiya reef. Later, turn your gaze to the energetic Spinner Dolphins, frequently seen in vast pods—leaping, twirling, and gliding beside your boat.

🏨 Accommodation: Bar Reef Resort

After breakfast, journey inland to Palm Garden Village in Anuradhapura, a peaceful retreat nestled amidst lush greenery. Take the rest of the day to relax and prepare for the adventures to come.

🏨 Accommodation: Palm Garden Village

Embark on both morning and afternoon safaris in Wilpattu National Park, Sri Lanka’s largest and most pristine wilderness. Renowned for its elusive Sloth Bears and Leopards, Wilpattu also boasts over 250 species of birds and diverse mammal life, including Asian Elephants, Sambar Deer, and Mugger Crocodiles. Your guide will help track sightings across the “villus” (natural lakes) that dot this ancient forest.

🏨 Accommodation: Palm Garden Village

Drive south to the cultural heart of Sri Lanka—Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage City. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which houses Sri Lanka’s most revered Buddhist relic. Witness the rituals and serenity of this spiritual site nestled beside Kandy Lake.

🏨 Accommodation: Cinnamon Citadel

Head deeper into the central highlands, a region of misty mountains, emerald tea estates, and colonial charm. En route, stop at a tea plantation to learn about Ceylon tea production and enjoy breathtaking views. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, affectionately known as “Little England.”

🏨 Accommodation: Jetwing St. Andrews

Rise early for a scenic trek through Horton Plains National Park, a plateau over 7,000 feet above sea level. Explore cloud forests and rolling grasslands, and hike to the dramatic World’s End cliff with a sheer 870m drop. Watch for endemic wildlife such as the Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush, Yellow-eared Bulbul, and Sambar Deer.

🏨 Accommodation: Jetwing St. Andrews

Travel to the southern dry zone for a three-day wildlife immersion at Yala National Park. Known for having one of the world’s highest leopard densities, Yala is also home to Sloth Bears, Tuskers, and a vibrant bird population including Malabar Pied Hornbills, Blue-faced Malkohas, and Indian Thick-knees. Enjoy morning and evening game drives with your expert naturalist.

🏨 Accommodation: Kithala Resort, Tissamaharama

After breakfast, head west along the palm-fringed southern coast to Galle, a city where old-world charm meets coastal elegance. In the evening, explore the cobbled streets of Galle Fort, a UNESCO-listed 17th-century Dutch fortress overlooking the Indian Ocean.

🏨 Accommodation: Radisson Blu, Galle

Embark on a thrilling expedition from Mirissa Harbour to spot Blue Whales and Sperm Whales—often sighted within a short distance from shore. With over 250 successful expeditions in recent seasons, your expert crew offers an unmatched whale-watching experience in one of the best places in the world to see these giants of the sea.
